"We believe Christians, Jews, Muslims and all spiritual people must lift the word of God up as a light, in this dark hour. We believe this is the day & time of the Messiah of the Torah, the Christ of the New Testament, the Mahdi of Islam. The long-awaited savior and reformer of the human family." -MLF
We believe that the revealed word of God is the salvation of the human family. However, we understand that all scriptures have been poorly interpreted, misinterpreted and edited by forces in history that used God's word for the control, suppression and oppression of God's people.
Torchlight Interfaith Ministries was founded in 2002 by a small group of Christians and Muslims from Chicago. The founding members include: Ernest Muhammad Sr., Rodney Bates, Gerald Johnson, Gerald Muhammad, Yolanda Muhammad, Vanessa Muhammad, Cortez Morgan, Fontaine Milton, Rev. Mark Jeffers and Minister Michael Muhammad. Torchlight Interfaith Ministries was started as an unincorporated outreach ministry with the aim of reaching the un-churched, un-Mosqued, spiritually lost Black people. We have hosted spiritual services in various neighborhoods throughout the Black community since that time. Our Pastor and Senior Minister, Michael Muhammad has delivered many powerful and inspirational messages throughout Chicago, and various cities across the United States.
The core of our theology and teaching, in simple language is this: The truth of Jesus's identity as a living man has been a controversy two thousand years. Whites see him one way - but is their way the only way? Is their way based in fact and truth? How do you see him? Do you have same idea about him as the people who oppress and kill in his name? Is there a greater truth about both Jesus and Muhammad than the world of white evangelicals, and white Arab Muslims, have taught us to believe?
The ministry has had several significant successes, which are:
Our founder received special recognition from his mentor and teacher, the Honorable Louis Farrakhan at the 2002 Convening of Ministers at Muhammad University of Islam.
Received Ordination by Bishop Craig Bergland, Founder of the Universal Anglican Interspiritual Church
Initiated and conducted successful Tribe 19 Youth Group Summer Program. Reaching and mentoring over 150 North Lawndale youth.
Established a free Computer Learning Center in North Lawndale.

Organized weekly leadership meeting of Street Organization leaders and founded The Street Peace Coalition.
Co-organized more than a dozen construction worksite direct action protests.
Organized a coalition of grassroots organizations and founded The New Black Leadership Coalition
Sponsored free pre-apprenticeship classes throughout the city.
